Factors Impacting Vietnamese Students’ Intention to Use Peer-To-Peer Lending

ABSTRACT:

This study investigates factors influencing students’ intention to use peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platforms in Vietnam, based on a 4-month survey of 361 participants and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results show that Digital Literacy (DL) and Risk Acceptance (RA) positively affect Usage Intention (UI), indicating that digitally skilled students willing to accept risks are more likely to adopt P2P lending, while Financial Literacy (FL) has no significant impact, suggesting practical benefits outweigh theoretical knowledge in decision-making. These findings contribute to understanding technology acceptance in financial technology and highlight DL and RA’s key roles. Practically, policymakers should regulate P2P lending to build trust, and enhance digital literacy education, while service managers should improve interfaces and raise awareness. However, the cross-sectional design and small, urban-biased sample (84.5%) limit generalizability. Future research should expand more samples, add variables like transparency, ubiquity, data security and use mixed methods for deeper insights.
