ABSTRACT:
This research explores how the character Simba from The Lion King uses politeness strategies in his interactions throughout the film. The movie, brought to life through advanced 3D animation, tells the story of Simba, a young lion who goes through a significant personal journey. This study focuses on how Simba interacts with other characters and employs different politeness strategies to navigate social situations and gather information about their goals. By analyzing the film's dialogue, the study uncovers how Simba uses politeness tactics to achieve his communication objectives. The findings suggest that these strategies play a key role in helping him effectively manage relationships and interactions. The goal of this study is to offer a detailed look at the types of politeness strategies Simba uses, while also highlighting which ones appear most frequently. Through a qualitative analysis of the film's dialogue, the research aims to identify recurring themes and patterns related to how Simba employs politeness strategies. Ultimately, the study seeks to add to our understanding of politeness theory and shed light on how these strategies are used in popular media like The Lion King.
